Treatment of PTSD and Tinnitus
Lay Description
In this study, researchers are examining th ebest sequence of interventions for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and tinnitus. Participants will eithe rreceive psychotherapy for PTSD first (Cognitive Processing Therapy; CPT), followed by treatment for tinnitus (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Tinnitus; CBT-t); or vice-versa. We also aim to identify chnanges in brain functioning after receiving therapy.

Inclusion Criteria
active-duty military service members and veterans with a history of military deployment; diagnosis of PTSD; diagnosis of tinnitus that is at least possibly related to a prior head injury; stable on psychotropic medications.
Exclusion Criteria
Currently receiving other talk therapies; current suicide or homicide risk that merits crisis intervention; psychiatric hospitalization in the last 12 months; diagnosis of substance use that would prevent the participant from engaging in therapy; psychiatric problems warranting immediate threatment; active psychosis; significant cognitive impairment; moderate to severe brain damage; neurobiological disoters; Meniere's disease; temporomandibular joint disorders
